Dependence on Wi-Fi: Ideally, the system should be able to work with or without Wi-Fi through a built-in SIM Card slot. If the system is dependent only on Wi-Fi, then it is easy to hack by shutting off the power or the Wi-Fi router.

Wireless: Is the network completely wireless or do you have to dig up your walls to install it?

Motion Sensor: Is there a separate PIR Motion Sensor or is it video camera based sensor? Insist on a different Motion Sensor, which is extremely dependable and accurate – as your entire home security is dependent on its working accurately. Video-based sensors are not dependable at all.

Security while outdoors: Can the system protect you only within your home or can it also protect you when you are outdoors using wearable technologies?

Price: Is the system affordable?

Ease of installation: Will you be able to install the system yourself in under 5 minutes? Or do you need an installation engineer?

Ease of use: Can you understand and use all the features of the system easily or do you have to be a Computer Science Engineering Graduate to use the system?

Avoid crime: Can the system help you to deter crime? Most standard CCTV camera-based systems can only do a Post Mortem of the offense but cannot inform you when the crime is being committed.
